      Well, think it is supposed to look like amethyst & color is good. But what kind of lighting are you using that is creating the glints of blue? It is making it difficult to know what color your stones really are. In this case it is creating the effect of tanzanite or color change sapphire.

      The chip & scrapes at the edge of the table (the flat surface on top) & the odd way the tip of the pavilion (the pointed other side) has been flattened lead me to believe it is glass. The pavilion is not chipped, it has been deliberately flattened. You would never see this in a genuine gemstone. Glass is softer, more easily damaged than amethyst or any of the other purple stones, easily scuffed up.

      Hi thanks cameo this is just taken in normal daylight and it's was cloudy today, on a black base but I will take a white one tomorrow if you think it will help.

      Color is the first thing to consider when trying to identify a stone, it eliminates many stones & narrows the possibilities that have to be considered. In the photos, this stone could be a color change sapphire (don't get excited; they are lab grown & jewelers who recognize them do not value them very highly), but the cut & the scuffing make me think it is not. If I could see its true color I would know for sure.

      Hi and thanks cameo , it's dark here now but I will take a pic in the morning and post it so you can see it on a white background, I love the look of the stones on black & with daylight. I love this stone so much I might have it made into a ring. It's 10mm
