This arched panel is signed in the bottom/right corner with a B & G. I think it was mounted on a stand or something because it shows construction on the base. I think it depicts a wealthy man reading a book and smoking a pipe. looks like a peace pipe or something - on the patio of a mansion. Buchsmid and Gretaux was a German company which specialized in beautiful marquetry.
