    More thrift-store junk. :P

I thought I might decorate the basement wall with this blanket, as the walls look stark when it's not dark down there.

My great grandmother had something similar before she died in the 1970s.

No tags. Anyone know when these were popular?

It's a Mexican blanket...I remember buying one in about 1993, which I still have. This is a traditional type of blanket that has been made for a very long time, & are still being made, so it's hard to say precisely when it dates from.

Vetraio, I thought it might add a bit of colour to our basement.

Iron Lace, thank you. As I stated earlier, this is very similar to a blanket of my great grandmother's. Many other items that were hers were of known Spanish origin, so that makes perfect sense that this and the similar blanket also are.

not spanish, but MEXICAN! [which is better if values mean anything]

these are called saltillo serapes. i have a lot of very nice ones. always look for the ones w/ the 'eye of god' designs.
