I don’t know I feel this is the appropriate place to ask but im hoping someone’s may give me and idea on how to best research and put a value on my jewelry and antique collections. I lost everything in the October CA fires and the insurance company is requiring inventory lists including replacement value of items In need order to obtain contents insurance money. Im sure any collector knows what an overwhelmingly task this is, particularly when it comes to collectibles and antiques. Fortunately I do have pictures of quite a few of my items because of sharing on site like this. Any thoughts/tips would be greatly appreciated.

This is such a beautiful necklace, nice post. Very sorry about your losses in the CA fires, had to be devastating. I wish I knew about jewelry ins. but it's very good to have the pix & descriptions from online. Best of luck

You should always put what country you're from on your home page. Also where you might have bought it helps with certain items. Beads can be the worst to identify and to date. By the time beads became prevailant, most companies were beginning to not put signatures on them. Sherman in Canada usually marked their items for instance but by the time beads came around they usually did not mark them and only because the earrings were signed was there a way to identify.
Also when you post pieces like this you should ALWAYS show the back clasp and jewellery findings as that helps to identify in some instances !!

Thank you for the kind words and tips.
This particular necklace had a beautiful clasp and was marked Japan on the back.
Unfortunately my more detailed pictures were lost in the fire, I just happened to have these pictures saved on my iPad.
