This little gem was discovered today after removing the lining of an old petite point trinket box. Family members who inherited the trinket box have passed and we have no one to ask who the ring might have belonged to, which would help date it or decipher the inscription. We think one of the markings are numbers 625 (maybe 15k gold). Anyone recognize the other stamps? We think there might be a letter "K" inscribed on the front but are unsure ... what do you see?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

      What an unexpected nice find!
It certainly had braided hair in the recessed areas, a mourning ring, but not marked for the dates of the beloved one.https://www.etsy.com/fr/listing/285837747/annees-1860-14-k-or-deuil-bague-avec?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=1860s%2014k%20Gold%20Mourning%20Ring%20with%20Braided%20Hair&ref=sr_gallery-1-1

Wow, thank you IVAN49 and kyratango for sharing your knowledge. You both have filled in the gaps for us. We never would have thought the recesses were for hair or the ring had been resized. I'm off to search the family trees for members with K surnames who passed in the 1876-ish. Thanks again.
