    It seems to be a native American basket. The interesting thing is the symbols on it. I would love to know more about it and possibly the worth of it

      It's made with split bamboo, definitely Asian, most likely Chinese...but similar baskets were made in the Philippines.

      The "swastika" symbol on the lid is found in cultures all over the world, usually translated as an "auspicious mark" conveying happiness, well-being, good luck, etc. In other words, a positive symbol, until the meaning took on a different association in the mid-1900s.

      This is an Asian Buddhist swastika as was said, it's pointing left. Germany used a different one with the arms pointing right. Beautiful old basket, probably for food grains storage. :-)
