Please excuse the dust on these little shells. They have been pushed to the back of my hutch for several years. I’ve always been afraid to clean them, i don’t think a soapy soak would hurt? They were purchased in the mid-late 1960s. My Aunt gave them to me 20 years ago. I know they are celluloid on a wood base, one is much more detailed than the other. No makers mark or label of any kind.

I often notice dust and grime only when I look at photos; the images are just so much better than my eyesight!
These are circa 1950, and most were from Japan, carved from celluloid as you thought. Tourist pieces I believe, but interesting and well made in that Japanese way. They are so cool!
