I've owned this chest or trunk for about a dozen years .I bought it at an auction for $10. I'm very curious to know its origin. It's built from a very light wood, probably Pine or Cedar constructed with square nails and very limited metal work. most of the wooden portions are fastened with wooden dowels or pins. The lid is ribbed and each rib is Tenon and mortise Construction. The corners are all box jointed. I bought it in Omemee Ontario Canada
