I have this item, any idea what it is? I was thinking it is a practice shell of some sort or a toy?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

It can't be a plumb bob because there is no way to attach a string. It MIGHT be a "plumber's turnip" for flaring lead pipe, although it is much bigger than they usually are.

Can you take the "lid" of? Looks like a container for needles.

Your right Elisabethan the lid is threaded. It was hard to get off. It had some white powder inside just a little bit though. Do you have a picture of a similar one you can share with me? Thanks

I think this is a salt shaker. With the 4 holes in the top and the threaded lid.
