Greetings all. I have here a stunning purple glass art vase I recently acquired. It has blue notes on one half with soft stretches of clear gently blending in and out throughout the entire bowl.

I have looked at hundreds of vases in an attempt to identify its origin, and although several appeared similar, each had a feature or two which differed from this vase. Most differed in height; all but one lacked the four oval panels; and all appeared to have slightly different openings. I have included the measurements below in hope that someone here may be familar with this particular vase. I appreciate any help in steering me in the right direction.
    Many Thanks!

    Measurements
    Overall Height: 5?"
    Clear Base Height:: 1½"
    Circumference at widest point: 13"
    Opening Diameter: 2?"
    Rim Thickness: ¼"
    Base (ground smooth): 1¾
    Each of the 4 Oval Panels: 2½" x 1¾"

    Unsolved Mystery

Very pretty. It's Chinese... produced for Fifth Avenue Crystal.

Hello and thanks, Anik. I saw several of those online last night, but did not believe them to be the same as this as all were taller by at least a couple inches and the openings appeared smaller than that on this vase.

I also notice that, at least on the photos of the 5th Avenue vases I saw last night, the secondary color appears to be present throughout the vase, while the blue on this vase is limited to only one half of the vase.

Hello, again. Please forgive the long post. It is not my intent to be difficult, but rather to seek an understanding of why, given the differences in height and base evident in the recently uploaded collage which contains a photo of my vase alongside photos of two different 5th Ave vases.

Please do not mistake my persistence for rudeness. But a similar experience with a Hazelware Prescut Williamsburg (not Williamsport as apparently widely believed ) punch set taught me that even firmly rooted, long-held beliefs may not hold true under certain circumstances.

In regard to the Hazelware punch set, everyone I encountered insisted that my punch set pattern was incorrectly identified as evidenced by a number of highly regarded online sources. It was not.

But had I not had the good fortune to have in my possession the original retail box which clearly depicts not only the Williamsburg pattern name, but also an illustration of the set, it would have been an impossible uphill battle to disprove this long-held, deeply rooted perception in relation to my particular set.

That experience taught me the importance of persistence when dealing in the realm of old collectibles, where long ago absent paper trails were often replaced with common consensus that is more often than not on point. But occassionally, as with the punch set, questions and clarification may lead to a surprise conclusion.

Here, I do not have a retail box, just good faith questions raised by the differences in height, the drop line of the amethyst bowl, and the taper of the base, and would welcome any explanation of why, given these differences, it is assumed that my vase is a 5th Avenue vase, regardless.

Not saying it isn't, but rather seeking clarification as to why these seemingly obvious differences would be deemed inconsequential, especially that regarding the slope of the base, as there appears to exist a certain uniformity to the slope of the 5th Avenue bases not mirrored by my vase.

Thank you all, in advance, for both your patience and assistance in sharing your expertise. It is greatly appreciated.

Here's a Murano Glass Google Image search, that may help:

Here's one on Etsy that I found in the earlier search:

      https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/listing/598096479/vintage-murano-sommerso-faceted-cubed

I don't know if any of these are Murano, just that they're listed as such! :^)

Hi! I have this same item which was given to me as a wedding gift in 2006. It still has the sticker on it that says “Fifth Avenue Crystal LTD, Made in China”. I think we are going to donate ours to Goodwill as it is pretty, but no longer fits with our decor.

I have one like yours and was told by an unofficial expert that it was Murano Somerso. Mine is closer to the shape and measurements to yours. The Chinese one is taller and narrower at the base than mine. I’ve been asking lots of questions, too to verify. I’d be interested to know what you find out.

The Chinese one appears to have oval facets while mine and I believe yours are circles.
