I received these buttons from an Aunt who was a hobby antique collector in 1974 in England. I am curious if they are vintage costume buttons.

Are you certain they are buttons? It looks as if the prongs securing the stones would snag the buttonhole threads.
With that wide flat bracket on the back, it looks like they could have been on a band of some kind, such as a choker necklace or narrow belt.
