I’m not sure what this is. I thought maybe a dress clip or hair ornament but it’s hinged crossover fastening with extra sharp pins has confused me! It’s big (10cm x 12cm)

Thank you for your comments. I’m so pleased I understand its function now. I collect all sorts of vintage bits and pieces. I love all the history and research that goes with them.
