Not necessarily a ladies trunk, just a 32 inch barrel top travel trunk made from around mid to late 1880's up to early 1900's, the hardware with the date of MAR. 16, 80 was patented by Charles A. Taylor in 1880, the latches on the front were patented in 1882. the smooth tin on the trunk was more than likely what was called crystallized tin, it looked like a frosted window and came in many colors gold being the most popular. This was a very common style trunk made by many makers of the day, without a makers label impossible to say who made the trunk, many trunks like this one never had a makers label in them at all.
