I found this porcelain eyeglass holder. I think it’s beautiful and bought it for my bedside to actually use. Does anyone know approx. year on this piece?
There’s no makers mark on it.

Sorry to correct you but these are spooners, they would be used to hold serving spoons during a meal, and sit in the middle of the tanle, very nice pieces.
Oh my, I told you I was a newbie!! It has housed my eyeglasses for months, that fit perfectly. Lol. Knowing what it actually is will help me tons, obviously. Thank you so much!
Eyeglass holder is an interesting concept, though. I'm surprised that some enterprising inventor has not come up with this configuration in the 700-800 years since eyeglasses were invented. Working on my patent application for a similar design now!

Believe it or not I was thinking about this post last night when I sat on my glasses and broke them.....again. I need one of these for storage, when I switch from TV to laptop.
As far as age, these were in use during 19th mid to latee century, Victorian era, and early 2oth. They were meant to use with fancy dinner ware, to show off a complete set to their invited guests. In the good old days, when people did that.

Portia, had fun trolling for some of these pieces this morning, I happen to like this type of obscure dinnerware accessory, so still think it's a great idea for me. I found some produced 1910-20.
Keramikos, I will put my glasses on my head when doing errands and my hands are full. At home I am distracted easily and put them down here, there and everywhere, then I can't find them, Don't like the idea of wearing them on my chest, I cook everyday, and not something you want hanging over the cooking pots and pans. I find Portia's idea more to my taste. Some lovely antique porcelain dish, to store in a clean place, near my chair.

Cost of replacing frame is now $5.00 from a stash of old 1990s style big frame glasses, sold on the internet. Cost of switching presciption lenses $20. at my local shop.

Coincidence but I have a Noritake spooner in the Art Deco style on my watch list, for a really low price, I was an assiduous Noritake collector about 12 years ago, and belonged to the American Group for a while and wrote some tidbits for their newsletter.
I had all of David Spain's books on the subject published by Schiffer. The masters of beautiful reference books on many subjects.
So, I am trying to find more of the Nippon era of Noritake porcelain production, in this spooner shape, for now.

I was, my practice is to submerge myself for a while in one type of decorative collectable usually from the 1920s. Once I feel I got as far as I could. My interest moves on to something else. Am I fickle? LOL.
