    This sterling spoon was made to commemorate the 1892 GAR encampment in Washington, DC.
    Next to it is an original ad from the Washington Post for Sept. 21, 1892 that was owned by
    veteran Valentine La Point who once served in the Civil War 81st New York regiment.
    Val was wounded at Cold Harbor in 1864, and lost most of one leg.
