    (22 items)

Hello folks, we found these 2 items in a box of ropes, Pitons, and other what we believe are rock climbing accessories. They may also be related to rope building for nautical use. There were a couple of FIDS in the box, leads us to believe the person made thier own custom ropes.
Any idesa what these are? Thanks in advance for your assistance

Have u tried it on your hand? I’m assuming your thumb would fit thru the hole and the strap go around the wrist....
The inside of the metal part with all the little divits looks like it is a heavy-duty thimble for pushing a needle thru some really tough material.
I’m thinking this may be for use on a sailboat for hand-stitching repairs to sails or other such fabric.

Mystery solved - Thanks Watchsearcher and Alleycat1 - that is what it is, a palm protector for sewing leather or sail canvas. Based on the other items that were in the box, it was probably used for repairing sails.
Your help is much appreciated - have a great day,
      G

Thank you both for confirming my assumption.
I lived aboard a sailboat and a motor yacht for several years, did some canvas work but, thankfully had a sewing machine and never had to hand-stitch anything.

The only reason I knew is my brother worked for a Awning Company and when we dove in his truck he always had one hanging from the mirror and I ask him what it was ...he would work at the job site rather then bring most back to the shop he would install a patch here and there....
