One of his existing leaves might not survive ultimately (having got a kink in its stem during the whole process) but I hope he'll ultimately be happier overall in this much bigger pot outside in my front garden than rootbound in a too small one in the bedroom window inside. (it took an additional 40lb+ bag of potting soil to fill this one...he should have room to 'spread his roots' now...?? ;-)
His backstory is slightly interesting (??) unto itself, he came to me a few yrs ago now when I was otherwise on a several week long work trip, while other crews' work also going on there involved digging a buncha dirt up from alongside that building. I suppose the original landscaping there (which by the time I first saw it was just a large pile of already dug up dirt) must have included elephant ears -- this little guy, all of his 2 or 3 leaves barely 6" tall, had meanwhiles stubbornly re-sprouted from atop the pile. Little dude just still wanted to LIVE!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) After noticing him there for a day or two I eventually grabbed a plastic soda cup and one of my co-worker's wonderbar tools, (closest thing to a shovel that was handy) climbed thru their temporary chainlink fence, and Phre5d officially became my 'hotel room window companion' for the rest of my stay there. (hope the housekeepers enjoyed him too?!) Then he came home with me and got put into the pot in the bedroom window that he shortly outgrew... <sigh> ...hope he ultimately survives and thrives after the transplant today. Wish me luck with that y'all -- I've never been known as having any particular 'green thumb'... ;-) ;-) ;-)
OH, and yes, I made a specific point so that the 'bullet hole' in the pot clearly shows from its now frontside... <lol>
EDIT 20May...I just renamed "Phre5d" from the more common spelling I used earlier, to honor the memory of another dear friend and colleague who passed months ago now. An even more eccentric fellow than I myself could ever hope to be, he always took great delight in explaining how to spell his name ("...but the 5 is silent...") especially if he was sitting at a bar somewheres sipping on a glass of his favorite Scotch. RIP, Fredrick Heffner -- you are and will be missed.
Great Pot!!! Looks like Fred the Elephant played Kick the Can before giving up his Ears!! Love the brickwork!!! I did the same inside our shop in the sit down area!!

Pot and plant have “been thru some troubles” but probably have bonded now with your kind emotional support....they are just perfect for each other! I think the elephant ear will reward your attention with plenty of new leaves before long.

Stuff, the brickwork is simply what my [ca. 1954 'mid-century modest'] little home is built of. I love it too. :-) Watchsearcher, I heartily agree w/you too, I also tend to think they look great together (I knew exactly what I wanted that pot for when first spotting it in the cleanout house backyard) and *do* hope Fred will be happy and prosperous in his new home... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
For Watchsearcher (and anybody else that cares to look) I just changed out one of my original pics for a new one (#1 now I think?) showing exactly what you predicted -- Phre5d has indeed just shot up a brand new healthy leaf to replace the one that got bent during his move outside -- I also predict they'll be more to come!! :-) :-) :-)

Just today Phre5d popped up yet one more new leaf which hasn't had time to open up yet -- when it does I suspect it'll rival the last new one to be the 'biggest'...he truly *does* seem happy out there in front of the house. ;-) :-)
