Hi Ralph. In the first image the inside is threaded as I expected it to be. The threading is odd, but I found a piece of threaded piping on Amazon. I am reasonably sure that the threading in there was standardized at the time. In the old days before wiring buckets, there was a large threaded nipple that would have attached to the ceiling with screws to attach the fixture with.

Finding a nut to fit that was impossible in my area, so I bought a slightly oversize nut and used JB Weld to attach the nut to one end.
To mount it to a standard ceiling electrical bucket, I ordered these. The center hole has to be .7 inches for the rod to slip down through the center hole, and the attached nut acts as a stop to hold it. The piece then attached with screws to a standard ceiling recessed electrical box. The threaded pipe above has an OD of .625 inches.

That hole on the cap should be threaded, so take that one to a hardware store and find a small threaded bolt, or a set screw that will fit. Once the fixture is hung, the set screw simply holds the cap up tight to the ceiling hiding the wiring and the mounting hardware. If the threading is stripped, you can determine the point on the shaft it would need to contact, and drill a small hole in the shaft for a little longer threaded bolt to go through to act as a stop.
You are going to want to rewire it, as the wiring in there is early cloth covered. They are pretty simple to rewire.
