Is this a thing? Or was it a thing? Or did this thing somehow break in the kiln and the artist didn't think anyone would notice? I'm so confused. It must not have been a very popular trend because I can't find any comparisons.

The form is called 'tazza', known from ancient Greece. Was used for small pieces of food or for display. The decoration looks late 19th century. Maybe something went wrong in the kiln.

The "tears" just look so intentional. It does look capodimonte-ish, and I can see what you mean by "tazza". Still, those splits are just throwing me off .
