The brooch is marked STAR on the back, done in gold metal and set with sparkling Gold rhinestones and Red Rhinestones eyes. The brooch measures 2 1/2 " tall and 1" wide.
Chicago based company Star Novelty Jewelry Co., Inc. began making costume jewelry in 1925; jewelers mark “STAR” (1925-1940).
However, the company changed its name in the 1940s, to Staret; and bean using the mark "Staret" . The company ceased operations in 1947.
Star jewelers used gold or silver-plated, or rhodium-plated metal, also enamel of various colors. High quality handmade pieces of jewelry, Their collections included beautiful figural and floral designs.

Staret is very sought after, and rare, being signed for only 7 years makes the pieces so.
I didn’t know Staret jewelry started out with the hallmark “STAR”
