When one works in churches, you get used to seeing memorial tribute plates installed on *every* odd kind of thing sooner or later -- furniture and windows probably being the most common, but nowhere near exclusively. [howzabout the XX-family memorial ELEVATOR for instance, or RESTROOM -- oh yes, I've seen both... <lol>]

Anyway. The one thing that IS nearly always a given is that, once installed, such plates *never* go away. Until whatever thing they're installed upon goes away that is, often not even then as somebody somewhere almost *always* wants to save the nameplate to transplant somewhere else, on the replacement thing or elsewhere.

So it is that its taken me ~30yrs to add this rather plain solid brass example to my own collection as a 'loose item'. It was rescued after removal from an older (1950's?) altar table which had been donated to a small (but growing) country church from a larger one somewhere else where it had become surplus and the donors hadn't kept the plate -- the receiving church had no connection to the donor family so they took it off. (and I was at the right place/right time otherwise installing ceiling fans, so was there for the "can I have that? <LOL>)

It is 1-1/4" x 3" of 1/16" brass, originally with a brushed finish now showing some dirt/discoloration in spots, the lettering is engraved and filled black. I truly hope Mr. (?) Johnson's children, if there are any remaining, would approve that I saved it...??

[now, what category to show this with...hardware, I guess...??]

My parents’ little church has several wooden plaques hanging on the wall. Each wooden plaque has rows of little brass plaques like yours with a name engraved on it…..the names of members who have died.
I’m glad you’re in possession of this one. It meant a lot to someone.
