1914 Bartender's Guide
New Bartender's Guide How to Mix Drinks "2 books in one"
My grandma Rosey gave this book to me years ago..seems like she gave me another bar book too...I'll have to dig it up. It's not in very good shape, but really amazing it survived all this time.
This book has a copyight that shows 1914. There is a few napkins inside with hand written notes. It's interesting to me because growing up I never saw grandma drink. Grandpa Louie was an alcoholic and had passed away when I was young. Grandma was a retired school teacher and very religious. She lived to be 100 years old. At the time she passed, she was living in a retirement community. When relatives emptied her apartment they found little vodka bottles hidden everywhere. Maybe that was her secret to long life?
Seems like Grandma had a long and full life, a little bit of vodka or not?!! :-) :-) :-)
At 97 or so she got cancer. Dr told her, ma'am you have 2 options..you can do chemotherapy or I can prescribe you sone pills to ease your pain....at your age you're I don't suggest chemo. She told the Dr..well I guess there's no choice then...chemo it is! She was the oldest person in Washington state to do chemo and have the cancer go in remission. Then lived to 100...had her driver's license to 98! Only drove very slow to church a block away.
Spending time with grandparents is a big memory of everyone's childhood, my grand mother use to read books and stories for me before I go to bed every night, that's why I got the habit of reading plus writing, now am I, famous essay writer.
