Emiliana Concha de Ossa came from a wealthy merchant family and was the niece of the Cuban diplomat Luis Subercaseuse. Emiliana grew up in Paris , where she received extensive training. She spoke several foreign languages ??and showed an artistic interest early on. She received her first drawing lessons from the famous portrait painter Giovanni Boldini and became his preferred model and muse.
