      Hi, LTCochran. :-)

The short version seems to be that the Wilson company was founded circa 1894 in Valley Park, MO, moved to Metropolis, IL circa 1916, but was kaput by the mid 1930's.

Here are some links where I found tidbits (sorry, but they didn't really lend themselves to easy organization):

      A few more tidbits.

I don't know whether this is the patent found on various Wilson stoves, but the date matches (November 14, 1893), along with the name of the patent holder (James Wilson):

      More on the family:

      *snip*

Born on April 16, 1904 in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Wilson Long was the daughter of Stephen H. and Katherine Long. Katherine’s family owned a successful firm that manufactured parlor stoves, and by 1910, Stephen was its Secretary. Sometime before 1920, the Longs moved to Metropolis, Illinois, where Mary’s father and her uncle, James Wilson, managed one of the company’s stove factories.

More details about the Metropolis, IL factory:

      American Artisan

      Daniel Stern
Keeney Publishing Company, 1916 - Hardware

The Wilson Stove and Manufacturing Company Metropolis Illinois has been incorporated with a capital of 100,000 by James Wilson James B Wilson and SH Long.

The Wilson Stove and Manufacturing Company Metropolis Illinois is building a three story factory feet to cost about 100,000.

This source says that the company was sold to a Memphis company in 1954(?):

      (Page 155)

      *snip*

The career of the Wilson Stove Company has been erratic. Established in 1916, it once employed 300 men and prospered until 1932. It was reorganized in 1938, but finally was sold to a Memphis company in 1954.
