The Late Show from 1977 yielded a VSM.
I decided that it was probably a Singer sewing machine head model 66-16 installed in a Singer cabinet model 56.
The tip offs:
A forward-facing disc tension assembly
An elliptical medallion badge on the pillar situated a bit below center (suggesting a lever style stitch length mechanism above it)
The curved shape of the harp space side of the pillar
A full size leaf on the cabinet
The curved shape of the lower front of the cabinet
The indentation near the top of the cabinet leg

My first thought was a Singer model 66.
fortapache, Yup, that was my gut reaction, but I decided to do a bit more investigation, because of the lack of resolution on the images.
I knew it wasn't a model 15, but it conceivably could have been a model 201 (both of which will fit in a cabinet model 56), so that's where Nicholas Rain Noe's website came in handy.
I'm still a bit bothered by all the dark clutter to the right of the pillar, but it could be just that: clutter. Movie set dressers aren't concerned with Intertube geeks trying to identify VSMs; they're concerned with creating believable sets.
I think they succeeded admirably, because that apartment sure looked like the home of the quirky character Margo Sterling.
If you've never seen the movie, it's definitely worth a look. It's a neo-noir starring two comedy legends.
That is definitely (the model) Miss Lily Tomlin, very easy to recognize her and it looks like her in both of the first 2 images !~
PhilDMorris, Yes, unmistakably Tomlin. :-)
Perhaps Carney was less recognizable in "The Late Show"as he was in his fifties when it was made, and it had been a long time since "The HoneyMooners," but then again, it had been only three years since his Oscar-winning turn in 1974's "Harry and Tonto."
It's been said that if somebody can do comedy well, they can do drama well, because good comedy is more difficult.
