The Kosmopolit (Cosmopolitan) is a sophisticated, beautifully engineered linear index typewriter introduced in 1888 by sewing machine manufacturer Guhl & Harbeck of Hamburg. It succeeded the Hammonia (1884), Europe’s first commercially successful typewriter.
