Hello I’ve just rediscovered this lovely item which was a very early find. I think it might be soapstone, I don’t know where it’s from or how old it is so hopefully someone can tell me more about it. What would someone use this for??? The colour looks weird like it needs cleaning, I’ve never touched it but it looks like patina on top but inside looks clean.
Maybe tobacco staining on the exterior.
Thanks kw I did consider that but then thought about how many years of smoke would it take to do that. From the looks of the base I would think it’s very old. Any idea of where it might be from, somewhere like China
I would guess India. 5-10 years around heavy smokers would easily discolor it that much.
The discoloration on the bottom looks like adhesive from an old price tag. 1980s or later...
Ok thanks kw, I did consider India before China but have no idea. Maybe I should clean it to see how it looks, so tempted
