    This studio photograph of an all girl band dates from about 1915- 1920, photographed in Monroeville, Indiana.

    The two girls in the back row have guitars, in the middle-- three mandolins and what appears to be a banjo- mandolin, and two up front that I am not sure of. It could be some sort of a banjo derivative?
