Hello everyone!!
I have many jockey statues and sculptures in my collection, but these would be the oldest and most rare jockey sculptures I own. These are cold painted bronze and still retain their original bronze bases. These were made in France in the mid-late 1800's. As you'll see, these still retain their riding crops as well as the pieces they're holding. I'm not sure what those pieces are, perhaps they're trophies.
I've seen a few of these over the years and I happen to own another set that are not mounted on bronze bases and no longer retain the pieces that these jockeys are holding. Most are missing those pieces and the riding crops are most always broken off. They're solid bronze and hefty for their size and each weigh nearly 2lbs. They each measure 7 3/4" tall and the bases measure 3 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep.
Thanks very much for taking time to stop in for a look!!
Scott
