1951 was 'annus horribilis' for the Danish artist Asger Jorn, born Jørgensen (1914-1973). He was brought home sick from France with malnutrition and tuberculosis and admitted to a sanatorium. He gradually got better and an empty room, next to the one where they kept the dead bodies, was given to his disposal for work. Maybe it was there he painted this watercolor, 20 cm X 26 cm, signed Jorn 51, now in my collection. On the sec. photo you see him work, at a later year, on a wall decoration in Havana, Cuba.
