I bought this marked Japanese, imari, octagonal, porcelain bowl at an antiques shop for the equivalent of USD50. Probably Meiji period, late 19th century ? Height 9.0 cm. Diam. 22.5 cm. Lots and lots of this export porcelain has been made, but still decorative, I think. Maybe you can date the bowl more precisely ?

this is a JANOME KODAI which called snake eye bowl, . they got an awful long spread , up to something like 1670 to early TAISHO,

the very early peaces are defined bij means of the GOMA which are the sesamyspots of the bottom lets say the agglutinatie of the dirt ( colour is greyish) from the kiln support

this is typical late export ware, the rather rudimentary division of the very red sedimentatation

imo this is export ware very late meijji , but more likelyYijEARLY TAISHO

i don,t know the mark and in mine opinion the reverse garlands f.i THE FAN ( nothing wrong with it but quite simple looks an impementation of also earlt taisho

imo the cobalt is quite dominating ( the dark blue cross on the obverse) probably there diapor design under it , and it is hard to see , and which diaper design is it ( no sweat

Thank you ! Could the mark be a 'good luck' symbol. These symbols were commonly used in sted of emperors name.
