This is the ca. 1889 to 1903 E.L. Page Mfg. 16” Boxwood rule, called “The Accurate.” It was created and manufactured by Erford L. (E.L.) Page, of Greene, NY, as a “measuring machine for measuring all wound goods without unwinding, quickly, accurately and without mussing [to be] used by every dry good dealer … if he gave it a fair trial.” Based on the limited records I have located, from as early as 1889 to as late as 1903, Mr. Page sold The Accurate for $4.00, which is equivalent, in 2026 purchasing power, to about $147.84.
