The First Citizens Bank of Surfside, S.C. Hosts A Pictorial Display of the P-39 Airacobra Brooches of Larry Bell

For the month of September, 2026, there is a "pictorial display" of the P-39 Airacobra Brooches of Lawrence Dale "Larry" Bell, Founder of The Bell Aircraft Company and King George VI of The United Kingdom and Great Britain. ---- This display is located in the lobby of the First Citizens Bank, Surfside, S.C. and is available for public viewing. ----- In recognition of America's 250 Anniversary ------ America's Independence from British Royal Rule and Bell's contribution to the World War II effort. --- This display will only be available for public viewing during the month of September of 2026. -------- The First Citizens Bank of Surfside, South Carolina, is just down Highway 17 from the Myrtle Beach International Airport -- previously The United States Myrtle Beach Air Force Base during World War II. ------- Note: Both of the P-39 Airacobra Brooches have been locked up in a different undisclosed bank vault for over 85 years and have never been placed on public display. ------ For Questions or Comments of a verifiable historical and/or educational nature, contact Wayne Hugh Long ---- whlong2715@gmail.com.
