Found in my grandparents house. What is it? What nationality is it? It must be 1930's or earlier. Any idea of the value?

Your rug looks like is Persian (Iran) and has silk weaving.

Its been about 5 years since I bought any rugs in the Middle East, but I think that Isfahan (not 100% on spelling) was the area that most of the silk rugs come from.

This is a prayer carpet. The carpet is placed so that the niche is in the direction of Mecca. The design is a guide of where to stand and in which direction to bow .If the coarpet is made of silk it will have a distinct nap and a feel that only silk can have. Prayer carpets are made and used all over the Moslem world. The colours are very tasteful and have kept their vibrancy. It must have been well stored.
