The charger was bought at the same Vinnies where I got the Flask this week. For some reason I keep finding blue items at this store. This charger is available in two colours blue and black. It was first issued in 1996.
I like engraved glass!
I know it is not everyone's cup of tea!
This was after a tour of Australia that Ulrica had made in 1993. She has taken on board imagery from the Australian experience and woven it into the dream world that has marked her work at Kosta for the last forty years. “Here, engraved patterns on painted black and blue fields suggest the snakes, lizards, fish and mythical creatures that inhabit her dreams. The use of a coarse-tipped engraving tool imparts a robust simplicity to these unusual pieces.”
What really attracted me to this piece was the fact that the design is not painted on the back of the plate it is engraved!
The dishes are hand-painted with the special paint that Ulrica has devised for painting on glass and then the design is cut into the painted surface with a engraving tool in broad strokes by the artist.
Ulrica is married to another Kosta Boda designer Bertil Vallien. ??She and her husband are the anchors at Kosta Boda at the moment.
There a Swedish language video here of her:

The charger is quite large: It has a diameter of 38 cm or 15 inches.
It has an engraved signature : UHV / RA
If anyone know about the RA of the signature I'd be glad to hear from you. I believe it to be the initials of the engraver. The team at Kosta have not been able to help me with her/his identity.
