Wided bladed takouba sword

From Northern Nigeria, this wide bladed sword is part of the takouba type, most often associated with the Tuareg but also used by the Fulani, Hausa and Nupe peoples.

This particular example shows exception brass work including a large forte plate. These wide bladed swords are associated with bodyguards and palace officials.
