An elderly gentleman gave me a plywood box containing 6 (six) mallard hen hunting decoys with real feathers. The decoys are made of CORK and 80% of it is covered with feathers. It has a flat base with a metal alloy wire leading to under the breast where a string/cord is attached to a square lead weight. There are no markings, stamp or name that would identify the maker of these decoys. Measurements are 14" long - 8" wide and 6.5" high. They are over 50 years old as a minimum age. The previous owner was born in the UK and has lived in Canada since after the second WW.

September 2013. I have spent many weeks searching and finally found the maker of these decoys. He was named Hector (Eugene) Bedard a taxidermist from Ottawa and a well known waterfowl guide and a renowned shooter. He was also a close friends with the Molson family from Mtl and the WOODs family who owned The woods Outdoor Co. These decoys were the same as the ones mentioned in the Book by Shirley Woods I believe called Upland Waterfowl. Please contact if u can offer any other information. These decoys were also shown to Gerald Bedard his nephew who actually help Hector make them as a young man in the 50's or 40's.
