Reverse painted coca-cola 5 cent sign. The glass is what I would consider thin. Found in North Georgia.

This sign was found in North Ga. Have not been able to find another one like it. Hard to tell if its authentic or someone's art project. The dealer that sold it to me said he had it at his house for 15 years in his personal collection. He said he's never seen one since he bought it and he's in the "business". If anyone has some information it would be appreciated.

What is the size, is there any maker's info printed anywhere on the sign, and can you post a picture of the back side?

Probably rare and probably NOS, just not 100% sure.

The sign is approximately 22" x 12". There are no makers marks that I can find anywhere. I had it framed since the edges were not protected when I bought it so a photo of the back would be chalanging. I can tell you that the green paint appears to be rolled on and not sprayed. I can tell this by lighting it up from behind. It was obviously not meant to have a light behind it.

I do not believe this is authentic for the following reasons,
      1. It is not a form I have ever seen before, and I have seen nearly everything.
      2. The text ast the bottom is not right - letterforms arent done well,
      3. Reverse painted glass was usually a little fancier than this single flat color.
      4. The 5 cents also doesnt not feel right.
Sorry. I know this isnt what you wanted to hear!

The trademark part looks a little strange too doesn't it Blaine?

Thank you for all of your responses. I agree that this is not your typical, run-of-the-mill, Coca-Cola advertising item. Is it possible that back in the day Coca-Cola had reps that went around to diners/restaurants to try to convince them to sell Coca-Cola at their establishment? I was thinking that perhaps this sign was authorized by coca cola, and fabricated in small quantities for the rep to hand out in his territory to certain clients?

You would definitely need to add a few more pics to this post, including the back to get any better/more info on this, but earlycoke is the best authority on this era of sign, and the man knows his stuff!!

This sign is a 100% bogus piece of rip off junk. I have seen these several times showing up at flea markets and booths at antique shops. Coca-Cola, nor their reps would ever produce this junk. Value is $5.00 at the most.

      That's the Low Down.

I just wish "low" would speak her mind and tell me how she really feels.
