Russian Birch Bark Cuff Bracelet and Pendant Necklace

I bought these pieces in Tomsk, Russia. Making functional household and decorative items from birch bark is a traditional craft in Siberia. Several layers of steamed bark were pierced (lazer-cut nowadays), stained different shades for contrast and applied together for a pleasing effect. The jewelry is super lightweight, just a bit heavier than paper, so it's easy to wear large statement pieces (but delicate pieces with intricate designs seem to be more popular and easier to find).
