This has been in our family as long as I can remember. My parents lived in my great grandmothers house in Detroit after she passed and just before I came along. I think we lived there till I was 3 or 4 years old and then moved to a new home in "suburbia" around the mid 60's like most young families. The bowl belonged to great grandma and was one of the only things my parents ever kept. It's always been on the counter with bananas or oranges and apples in it. Since I started collecting again I retired it from it's daily use. It's 8" in diameter and 6 1/2" tall and not chipped or broken. Amazing for a piece in daily use and I want to keep it that way. I know it's at least 100 year's old and not marked. I'm not sure about the pattern or type of glass. Looking around the generic EAPG term seems to fit and I think the pattern is called "Loops" but I'm no expert. I've seen the terms "flint" and "sandwich" used but I don't know if they apply. -Mike-

this 'Loop' pattern was made by a number of EAPG companies, including Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. The patterns from different companies are so similar it is often very difficult to differentiate from photos alone. The pattern is found in flint and non-flint glass depending on manufacture date; flint should have a bell tone ring when tapped whereas non-lint would likely have a dim yellowish glow under black light. Given the similarities and lack of specific catalog examples it is often impossible to definitively name a maker.

Thank you so much for the info TallCakes, :) So I guess I wasn't too far off when I did my research. It does have a nice "bell tone "ring to it, so it's probably flint glass as well. I forgot to mention the size which is 8 " in diameter and 6 1/2 "tall. -Mike-

It's very beautiful. I'm glad you have such a family treasure. :-) Maybe you can add some artificial fruit to it.
