I'm trying to find out exactly what this Silver Stand could be used for and maybe the answer is in the Script in front. It has tiny 3 hallmarks that I tried to photograph but they are so small that my photos may not be useful. I added them in case someone recognizes them. It also has one hallmark on the tiny frame at the back. It was found amidst a box of miscellaneous Silver in a flea market. Can someone read the script. Thanks everyone, RER(BOB)

Wow! That was fast Kevin....those are the exact markings. Would this be a napkin holder? BOB

The mark on the right I think is here:

Is it part of belt buckle? Or does it stand on that foot?

      That design is beautiful.

      It is in classical script.
Perhaps someone can help out with a translation
My Arabic is just not there.
      Mea culpa!

This site in Arabic has a list of date letters up until 2009:

Thanks again Kevin....I know now that its Egyptian, after 1946 but the other marks are hard to locate on that site. It does stand up like a bookend but the foot is only 1" wide. BOB

Thank you DrFluffy! So this is probably a dinner table item thanking Allah for the food or for some other presentation ceremony. RER

      Besmel-lahe-rahmaneh-raheem = a prayer that has 19 letters = Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
A prayer that a Muslim recites before beginning any task.

An acronym : letters within it correspond to the 19 letters contained in the names of the Ahlul Bayt.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahl_al-Bayt

A thing of great poetic beauty.
