Found this in a barn of my husband's uncle who recently died and was 87 years old. This piece is about 5'7'' and as seen in pictures folds up compactly then the wooden arms unfold.
Does anyone know what this is and about what age it could be? I have found no writing on it anywhere.

Some kind of antique drying rack?

When I grew up these were called a drying rack. You brought it out before bed and set it up in front of the stove and hung clothes on it to dry.

This one isn't original but you can get the idea if you research it. This one was modified and multiplied. These went away when fold up clothes bars came along. Candle driers were fashioned after these with multiple levels.

do you KNOW that this is new? seems like quite a bit of work for not a whole lot of value.
