A quick peek at Home Depot's site shows they sell 2x4' mahogany plywood panels ('african' not specified) for $20 a pop. Cost to cover a 12x20' room? About $1444.00 today.

My guess is that is a 1960s price.

My son just finished two bed frames , king size and queen. Mahogany and oak. The mahogany head was a solid piece 4 inches thick. I asked what jungle that came out of? Price $15,000 for two bedframes. He works in a high end wood shop making designer pieces.
