This is a 60's 70's(I think) New Era Potato Chip tin. I usually don't collect these types of things but it was given to me as a gift from my winter plumbing boss.
This Co. started in Detroit I believe way back when I am not sure, 30's maybe. They were eventually bought out by Frito-Lay. Detroit is best known for it's 'Better Made' chip co. It is aprx. 12 inches tall.

Yeah I thought the same thing when I read those lines on the front also. Very odd indeed!
Yes "truly digestible" sounds truly mouth watering. Sounds like something Rarren Stevens would come up with after the 4th martini.
PS I would have bought it too.
I have a book on packaging from the Art Deco era called "Shelf Life", & in it there is a photo of a very similar tin dated to c.1935. Amazing that basically the same font, logo, & scientific claims were being used 30 years later!
Funny how it used to be a selling point to have words like "processed" on food products...from about the 1980s on it shifted to "natural", & later, "organic". The current food cliche is of course, "artisan"...
