I think, but am not certain that this is part of a cast iron stove. I haven't looked it up yet, but that's what it feels like. i grew up with wood stoves as that is how we heated our house and water back east.

Beautiful picture, and it clearly shows a Marquart plaque, and a date of 1899.

ho2cultcha, I was just curious as to the history of Champion and Marquart together.
I'm wondering whether it wasn't a case of Marquart being the junior partner, because it was Champion ponying up the funds.
FWIW, I see a number of stove patents out there by Fredrich/Fredrick Marquart.
