I absolutely love old Kenneth Jay Lane animal brooches from the sixties! The quality of this pin is impeccable; so much attention has been paid to the fine details! This brooch features a gazelle-like creature with long horns that is highlighted in silver, and the top of its head is paved with crystal rhinestones. It has a silver wreath around its slender neck, which is accented with a few rhinestones and a single pearl drop. The eye is of a green navette cabochon, and the body is also accented with green round cabochons and more crystal rhinestones. Signed "K.J.L." in an oval cartouche at the back.
Looking through the archives and came across this magnificent brooch.
Older KJL with the initials are hard to come by, I love this!
It's too bad his company fell into the system, and now most of his designs are mass- produced..for companies such as QVC, and alas, made in China...
@Ms.CrystalShip This was one of my favourite brooches, and I do regret selling most of them. But hey, I gotta eat and need funds for more jewelry! :P I'm sure it is the same for the company, but I'm glad they lasted so many decades and have been reissuing old designs, although the quality will never be the same again.
Wish I was around when you parted with these!
But I understand believe me, oh , the jewelry I have parted with :(
This needs more loves!
I just saw this piece for sale, but not buying at the moment...
His fantasy animals were/are incredible!
