Not sure if this is Sterling or Costume Jewelry until I figure it out in will stay in costume category.
I believe it is mother of pearl.
    Mark-Star inside a Full Circle
If anyone knows this mark please let me know.
This belonged to my mother so I don't have much info on it. But I do wear it all the time. Very beautiful to me.

I have a pin posted with the same mark. If you enlarge the second photo you will see it.

      Agree!

I am inclined to say it is a star in a full circle. The mark happens to be on the edge of the jewelry and therefore might be missing part of circle. But, of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

freiheit you are correct......it's a full circle :)

I found a star in a circle there:
      http://www.silvercollection.it/austriansilverhallmarks.html
      Georg Adam Scheid
But he worked silver and earlier, I think...
Anyway, this site is very useful for hallmarks!

This is definitively not a brooch of Georg Adam Scheid. I own a pendant made by him and published at my CW site. This is a brooch of a later date according to the lock.
