    Vintage hand powered tool. The round part rotates and 2 holders above the disc oscillate. Looks like it could hold a part and polish it?

    The round plate is cast with a smooth machined top and edge. It has concentric lines machined into the top surface. It is a type of cast iron. In the photo you can see the magnet i have hanging from it.

    The shop i bought it from didn't really know what it did but said they thought it was for polishing glass.

      lapping machine similar to what blunderbuss2 mentioned but this one i think is for final sanding and polishing of metal cogs and wheels etc

      I've seen these used for sharpening animal clipper blades. I don't know if that was the proper use for it , but it worked well ...... hotairfan
