My mom bought this for me in 1996. She found it in an antique mall in Arlington, TX. It's missing one of the wheels (unfortunately discovered when moving it over hardwood floor) and the lid label/deco thingy is mostly gone but I still think it's neat-o. I haven't been able to find any other trunks with diagonal slat thingies in front. Surprisingly, google returns very few results for "trunks with diagonal slat thingies".

I can tell you that each week I search the internet for trunks.I have been doing it for ten years,I see a lot of them. I have only seen it one other time and not this pattern. It is a very nice find and unusual . Having said that,I kind of see why they didn't do that look very much.To me, it is not as attractive a look as vertical or horizontal ones. That of course is just my opinion and I don't mean to insult.

That is a lot milder than any of the adjectives my husband has used for the trunk and no offense taken.

Gosh, this is fantastic! It reminds me a horizantal trunk, that used to stay in my house in a hall.Children used to play on it.Unfortunetely,it's gone and doesn't exist any more.Keep this find and enjoy it!

Such an unusual design with the slat work on the front! Nice find. In my opinion, the more unusual they are, the more I like them! Nice one!

      Hi IClubEm,
An interesting trunk because of the front slat design. I've collected and restored trunks for 40 years and I've only seen two others with that pattern, so pretty rare. The trunk itself is a cross slat style, made mostly in the 1890's to 1910's by many trunk makers across the U.S. Nice that you have the original tray too.
