If that platter is sterling its worth a lot. need a closer shot, does it look like a lion.

the enormous platter underneath the salt cellars has a lion on the bottom of it. it's dated 1917 and monogrammed w/ DWE.

i think that these are nut dishes, not salceros. what do you think?
    6. Gracay2004 Gracay2004, 9 years ago
I would imagine if these were salts they would need a glass liner otherwise the salt would destroy the silver.

thank you Gracay2004. i wonder though, because i have a bunch of silver shakers and they don't have liners. ??
    8. Gracay2004 Gracay2004, 9 years ago
Do you keep salt in the shakers? Salt pitting and green corrosion marks will appear quite quickly on Silver or silver plating. Ammonia will clean the green residue but won't obviously repair any damage.

Thank you Gracay2004. i don't use them for anything, really. too much work to keep them polished. they don't have salt in them now and i don't see any pitting or corrosion.
